Introduction

Dr. Shuo Han received his B.S. degree in chemistry, with a minor in computer science, from Tsinghua University in 2014. He earned his Ph.D. in chemical biology from Stanford University in 2020. From 2020 to 2022, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Stanford Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. In December 2022, he joined the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology), where he established his laboratory.

His laboratory is dedicated to discovering and engineering catalytic reactions found in nature that can label biomolecules within proximity. By building these molecular labeling reactions in mammalian cells, the group aims to not only develop research tools for probing the spatial localization and interactions of molecules and cells, but also use these reactions as potential strategies for functional editing and manipulation of biological interactions.
